Johnson Matthey had designed a digital service for chemical production companies and wanted to launch it in China. Nobody knew whether Chinese customers would want it, or whether they would share the data the service depends on.

Challenge
How we helped
We worked with JM's product teams to build digital prototypes for customer validation. Then we ran customer research interviews, in Mandarin, with some of China's largest chemical producers.
Our consultants led every interview, drawing on experience of industrial research in China and knowledge of chemicals production. The findings shaped recommendations on refining the proposition, prioritising features and approaching data sharing.
Outcome
The evidence and design recommendations gave JM the confidence to invest. The service launched successfully.
